The Devil Wears Prada 2 (2026)

I haven’t seen the first Devil Wears Prada film in years but I still remember it fondly. That’s probably what it’s like when your memory’s processing is as accelerated as mine. I guess you could say I did make some more fond memories when I went to see the sequel. And I must admit, as someone who takes films pretty seriously, it wasn’t too bad. I didn’t go into this film expecting a masterpiece but I knew it was going to be fun and enjoyable like the first film and that’s all I could ask for. I know I’ve said this a thousand times but I’m always open to a film that I can just sit down and enjoy without thinking too much. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about the films I’ve seen over the years, it can be fun to just know what to expect and not be oversensitive like I am about some things. I’m sure I’ve made this clear before as well but I also have a thing for nostalgia and this film did make me feel sentimental about some things. I have more to say about this comedy, so let’s step back into the world of impossible standards.

     The story reunites Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) with the high-stakes world of fashion journalism as her career path once again intersects with the formidable Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). As the industry evolves and new power dynamics emerge, Andy must navigate ambition, identity, and the cost of success. I’ve always enjoyed watching Hathaway and Streep in anything they do. I’m not sure I’ve ever actually seen a movie where they give a bad performance. They even make some of the crap out there that I’ve seen more bearable, and I thought they slipped back into their characters effortlessly here. You also have Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci who came back and it felt like they never left their characters either. Even Tracie Thoms as Andy’s friend Lily and Tibor Feldman as Irv Ravitz returned. The movie also features a new cast that includes Kenneth Branagh, Justin Theroux, Lucy Liu, B.J. Novak, Patrick Bramall, Caleb Hearon, Helen J Shen, and a whole entire cast filled with characters and cameos that I don’t even think my hyperactive mind could count. Like I said, I’m very much into nostalgia and this movie played to that factor pretty well. Not only did it remind me of what I enjoyed about the original film but it also made me want to go back to New York. Also, without spoiling too much, the movie has a message to it and I thought it was handled pretty neatly. I wouldn’t call this the most perfect movie experience ever (not by a long shot) but it was entertaining nonetheless and that’s really the only thing that matters here.

     I’m not sure I like it as much as the original but I’m not complaining. I’ve also seen some people online who trashed this film like it was the worst thing ever but I wouldn’t listen to them if I were you. If you like the first movie, then I think you’ll enjoy this movie, too. Then again, what do I know? I write what I feel, not what others feel. Overall, my score would be a 7 out of 10. Again, if you’re a fan of the original, then go check this film out if you haven’t already. Sharp, stylish, and still knows how to cut.
